Short Courses/Workshops in Genetic Medicine
The programme is run over a period of 3-5 days. Participants will learn foundational concepts in genetics and gain new insight into the rapidly evolving field of genetic medicine. Topics focus broadly on up-to-date presentation of genetics in humans, the relationship of heredity to disease in humans, the importance of molecular genetics in the diagnosis and treatment of inherited disorders. Topics covered include molecular basis of genetic disease, animal models of disease, treatment and therapy overview of genetics, genetic variation, mendelian inheritance of disease, chromosomal aberrations, cancer genetics, common and complex traits, human population genetics, and precision medicine. Students will be issued with a Certificate of participation after successful completion.
